Job Description:
The Arc Welder in Toronto is responsible for joining metal components using manual or semi-automatic arc welding processes. This role involves preparing workpieces, interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate welding equipment and materials, and performing high-precision welds to meet quality and structural specifications. The welder is also expected to inspect and repair welds, maintain welding equipment, and ensure compliance with workplace safety and manufacturing standards.
Key tasks include using tools such as grinders and cutting torches, clamping parts into position, checking welds using gauges or visual methods, and following blueprints to produce structurally sound components. Arc Welders work in various sectors across Toronto including construction, automotive manufacturing, machinery fabrication, and metal structures.
This role requires a high degree of manual dexterity, attention to detail, and an understanding of metallurgy and heat tolerances. Welders may be required to work in confined spaces or at heights, and must follow all safety protocols.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification from a recognized institution is mandatory.
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in arc welding within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Skills:
Proficiency in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and related techniques.
Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
Strong understanding of metal properties and heat distribution.
Skilled in using welding and cutting tools safely and accurately.
Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
Language: English proficiency required.
Other Requirements:
Certification in welding safety standards (e.g., CWB) is an asset.
Ability to work in various positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead).
Willingness to work shifts or extended hours as needed.
