Job Description:
The CNC Machinist in Winnipeg is responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components used across various manufacturing sectors. This role involves interpreting technical blueprints, setting up and programming CNC machinery, selecting appropriate tools, and monitoring machining operations to ensure accuracy and product quality. The machinist performs quality checks using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to maintain tight tolerances.
Additional duties include performing routine maintenance on machines, adjusting tool offsets, troubleshooting issues, and documenting production activities. The CNC Machinist works closely with engineers, production supervisors, and quality assurance personnel to optimize productivity and minimize waste. This role is crucial in supporting Winnipeg’s industrial base, which includes aerospace, automotive, and agricultural equipment manufacturing.
The position requires technical precision, mechanical aptitude, and a strong understanding of machining processes in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or certification in CNC machining, mechanical engineering technology, or a related field.
Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience operating CNC lathes, mills, or machining centers.
Skills:
Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of G-code programming and CNC software.
Strong measurement and inspection skills.
Mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance understanding.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Language: English fluency required; French is an asset.
