Job Description:
The Art Restoration Specialist in Al Ain is tasked with preserving and restoring valuable artworks, historical artifacts, and cultural heritage items across various mediums including paintings, sculptures, paper, textiles, and ceramics. Working closely with museums, galleries, private collectors, and cultural institutions, the specialist conducts detailed assessments to determine the condition of pieces, proposes restoration plans, and performs conservation treatments using scientifically approved methods. Key responsibilities include cleaning, repairing damage due to aging or environmental exposure, stabilizing deteriorating elements, and documenting all interventions for historical record. This role requires mastery of both traditional craft-based restoration and contemporary conservation technologies, including UV analysis, infrared imaging, and chemical stabilization techniques. In addition to hands-on work, the specialist also advises curators and archivists on proper storage, handling, lighting, and display practices to prevent future degradation. Research into original materials and techniques is often required to maintain authenticity. The role contributes significantly to cultural preservation and must be executed with precision, patience, and deep respect for historical context.
Job Requirement:
A master’s degree in Art Conservation, Conservation Science, or Cultural Heritage Studies is essential, with at least 5–7 years of hands-on experience in restoration. Proficiency in analytical tools, documentation software, and conservation materials is required. Strong research skills, artistic sensitivity, and manual dexterity are critical, along with adherence to international conservation ethics and standards.
