Job Description:

The Tool Design Engineer in Dubai will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in manufacturing and assembly processes. This role is essential to ensuring precision, efficiency, and repeatability in production environments, especially those involving metal forming, plastic injection molding, machining, and assembly operations. The engineer will work closely with product designers, process engineers, and production teams to transform conceptual designs into robust, cost-effective tooling solutions.

Key responsibilities include analyzing product drawings and specifications to design tools that meet technical, safety, and quality requirements. The Tool Design Engineer will create 2D and 3D CAD models, perform tolerance stack-up analyses, simulate tool performance, and oversee the fabrication and validation of tooling components. They will also be involved in tooling trials, modification recommendations, and ensuring tool performance meets production targets such as cycle time, dimensional accuracy, and tool life.

In addition to new tool design, the role involves continuous improvement of existing tools by identifying wear issues, enhancing ergonomics, and reducing changeover times. The engineer is expected to stay updated on new materials, coatings, and manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, high-speed machining, and modular tooling systems. Documentation of tool maintenance plans, root cause analyses for tooling issues, and collaboration with suppliers and fabricators are also critical components of the role.

Job Requirement:

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology, and have at least 5 years of experience in tool design and development within a high-volume production or precision manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA is essential, along with knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and simulation tools like Moldflow or DEFORM. Hands-on experience with die design, jig and fixture development, and tool validation processes is required. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, DFM, and tool maintenance best practices is important. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills are vital, and prior work experience in the UAE manufacturing sector is preferred.
