Job Description: Summary: We are currently seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable General Counsel to join our team in Brussels, Belgium. As a General Counsel, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance to our organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead legal and compliance initiatives and contribute to the success and compliance of our company in the legal and regulatory landscape. Key Responsibilities: Provide legal counsel and support on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, contracts, compliance, intellectual property, and employment law. Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests and mitigate risks. Advise senior management on legal implications and potential risks associated with business decisions and strategies. Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations and ensure compliance with legal requirements. Develop and implement legal and compliance policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's operations and reputation. Manage and oversee external legal counsel and other legal service providers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, HR, and operations, to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in business activities. Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide guidance on complex legal issues. Handle and oversee legal disputes, litigation, and legal claims involving the company. Provide legal training and education to employees on legal and compliance matters.
Job Requirement: Requirements: Law degree from a reputable university. Admission to the Bar in Belgium is required. Extensive experience as a General Counsel or in a senior legal role, preferably in the legal and compliance department of a multinational company or law firm. In-depth knowledge of corporate law, contracts, regulatory compliance, and other relevant legal areas. Strong business acumen and ability to align legal strategies with organizational goals. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders. Strong leadership and management abilities. Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple priorities. Fluency in English. Proficiency in other languages, such as French or Dutch, is a plus.
