The Flotation Circuit Control Technician in Melbourne is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining flotation processes within a mineral processing plant. This role plays a key part in maximizing mineral recovery rates by ensuring the flotation circuit operates efficiently and in accordance with metallurgical guidelines and production targets.
Daily responsibilities include adjusting reagent dosages, air flows, and slurry densities to optimize separation of valuable minerals from waste material. The technician must observe changes in the flotation cells and modify control settings to maintain consistent recovery and concentrate grade based on ore variability and process conditions.
This position requires close coordination with metallurgists and plant operators to assess circuit performance and initiate improvements when inefficiencies or abnormalities are detected. The technician is also responsible for collecting samples, conducting on-site tests, and using results to guide operational decisions.
Routine maintenance tasks are also part of the role, including cleaning cell components, checking instrumentation, and reporting mechanical faults. Adherence to safety protocols, environmental controls, and standard operating procedures is mandatory at all times.

This role requires physical stamina, as technicians may need to climb stairs, operate valves, and perform tasks in outdoor or humid conditions. Flexibility for rotating shifts, night work, and emergency callouts is expected in a 24/7 operation.
