Job Description: We are currently seeking skilled and experienced Welders and Solderers to join our team in Nassau, Bahamas. As a Welder and Solderer, you will play a crucial role in the shipbuilding and ship machinery industry by performing welding and soldering tasks to construct, repair, and maintain various ship components and machinery. Key Responsibilities: Welding and Soldering: Perform welding and soldering operations according to industry standards, safety regulations, and blueprints. Utilize various welding techniques and equipment to join metals and other materials. Ensure proper heat control, penetration, and structural integrity. Metal Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding and soldering by cleaning, grinding, and removing impurities. Measure and mark materials to ensure accurate alignment and fit. Fabrication and Repair: Fabricate and assemble metal components, structures, and systems using welding and soldering techniques. Repair damaged or worn-out parts of ships and ship machinery, ensuring their proper functioning and longevity. Interpretation of Blueprints: Read and interpret technical blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine welding and soldering requirements, dimensions, and materials. Follow instructions and guidelines to ensure accurate execution of welding and soldering tasks. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and practices while working with welding and soldering equipment. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper safety procedures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe work environment. Quality Control: Inspect completed welds and solder joints to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Perform non-destructive testing methods, such as visual inspections and x-rays, to detect defects and ensure structural integrity. Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean welding and soldering equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity. Report any equipment malfunctions or deficiencies to supervisors for prompt repair or replacement. Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate and communicate with other team members, supervisors, and engineers to ensure smooth workflow and project completion. Provide input on welding and soldering requirements, material needs, and project progress.
Job Requirement: Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certification in welding or soldering is preferred. Proven experience as a Welder and Solderer, preferably in shipbuilding or a related industry. Proficiency in various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, arc, and soldering techniques. Knowledge of different types of metals, alloys, and their properties. Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and specifications. Strong attention to detail and precision in welding and soldering tasks. Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to welding and soldering. Physical stamina and the ability to work in various positions and environments. Good communication and teamwork skills. Familiarity with shipbuilding processes and machinery is advantageous.
