Job Description: We are currently seeking skilled and experienced Welders and Solderers to join our team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a Welder and Solderer, you will play a vital role in shipbuilding and ship machinery operations by performing welding and soldering tasks to ensure the structural integrity and functionality of marine vessels and equipment. Responsibilities: Welding and Soldering: Perform various welding and soldering techniques, including arc welding, gas welding, and brazing, to join metal parts and components according to specifications and industry standards. Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements and procedures. Welding Equipment Setup: Set up and maintain welding equipment, including welding machines, torches, and related tools, ensuring proper functionality and safety. Metal Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding or soldering by cleaning, grinding, and removing rust, scale, or other contaminants using appropriate tools and methods. Weld Inspection: Inspect welds and solder joints for quality and compliance with specifications, performing visual inspections and using non-destructive testing methods when required. Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to welding safety procedures. Material Selection: Select appropriate welding materials, such as electrodes, filler metals, fluxes, or solders, based on the type of metals being joined and the specific welding process. Welding Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including welding logs, inspection reports, and material usage, as required for quality control and regulatory compliance. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams, shipbuilders, and other tradespeople to ensure proper coordination and alignment of welding activities with shipbuilding and machinery installation processes. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, new welding techniques, and safety regulations, and participate in training programs to enhance welding skills and knowledge.
Job Requirement: Requirements: Education and Experience: A technical certification or vocational training in welding or a related field is preferred. Previous experience as a Welder and Solderer, particularly in shipbuilding or heavy machinery industries, is highly desirable. Welding Skills: Proficiency in various welding techniques, such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), or tungsten inert gas welding (TIG), and the ability to produce high-quality welds. Soldering Knowledge: Familiarity with soldering techniques, including soft soldering and brazing, and the ability to work with different soldering alloys. Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand welding requirements and specifications. Welding Equipment Operation: Experience in operating welding equipment, such as welding machines, torches, grinders, and related tools, and the ability to set up and maintain welding equipment. Safety Consciousness: Commitment to adhering to safety protocols, including proper handling of welding equipment, working in confined spaces, and following safe work practices. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate weld placement, penetration, and overall quality in accordance with specifications. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in awkward positions, and standing for extended periods.
