Under physician supervision, the PA performs physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, and assists in minor procedures. Their work helps reduce wait times, improve continuity of care, and expand access to medical services across diverse populations in Manitoba.

Additional duties include documenting patient histories, providing patient education on treatment plans, coordinating referrals, and participating in health promotion initiatives. PAs are integral to multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the management of both acute and chronic illnesses. In Winnipeg’s varied healthcare environment, PAs must demonstrate adaptability, sound medical judgment, and strong interpersonal skills to deliver culturally sensitive care.

Job Requirement:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field followed by completion of a recognized Canadian PA program (e.g., Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent).

Licensing: Must be certified by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) and registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).

Experience: 1–2 years of clinical or hospital experience preferred; new graduates are welcome in supervised training roles.

Skills:

Competence in conducting physical exams, interpreting lab results, and managing treatment plans.

Ability to work independently under physician supervision.

Strong decision-making and diagnostic reasoning.

Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.

Language: Proficiency in English; additional languages are beneficial in multicultural patient settings.

Other Requirements:

Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Commitment to continuous professional development and ethical practice.
