Job Description:

The Automated Slicer Handler in Lyon is responsible for operating and overseeing high-speed slicing machines used in the processing of meats, cheeses, baked goods, and other food items. Working in the food and beverages industry, this role ensures precise slicing, consistent output, and the seamless operation of automated equipment throughout the production cycle. This position bridges the gap between human supervision and machine functionality to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality sliced products.

The primary duties include setting up automated slicers before production runs, inputting correct slicing specifications, and loading food items into the machine’s feed system. The handler monitors the machine during operation to ensure products are being sliced according to programmed thickness, weight, and shape. Adjustments to speed or blade alignment are made as needed to correct irregularities and ensure product consistency.

The Automated Slicer Handler also plays a key role in machine maintenance and troubleshooting. This involves conducting pre-operation checks, identifying any technical issues, and making minor repairs or adjustments to maintain optimal performance. If larger mechanical problems arise, the handler works with maintenance teams to resolve them quickly to minimize downtime.

Another critical aspect of the role is sanitation. The handler is responsible for thoroughly cleaning slicing equipment between product runs or at the end of shifts. This includes disassembling parts of the machine, sanitizing blades and feed trays, and ensuring no cross-contamination occurs between different product types. Logs must be maintained for all cleaning and maintenance activities in accordance with food safety standards.

In Lyon’s competitive food production sector, the Automated Slicer Handler plays an essential role in delivering precise, hygienic, and high-volume slicing operations. Their attention to machine settings, safety procedures, and product accuracy ensures smooth production lines and high-quality finished goods ready for packaging and distribution.

Job Requirement:

The Automated Slicer Handler in Lyon must be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of managing sophisticated slicing equipment in a high-paced food production environment. This role requires a solid understanding of machine operation, safety protocols, and quality control practices as they relate to automated slicing systems.

The handler must be skilled in setting up and operating automated slicers with programmable interfaces. They must be able to select correct slicing profiles based on the type of product being processed and monitor the slicing output for accuracy and consistency. A strong eye for detail is necessary to detect irregular cuts, uneven shapes, or variations in thickness, all of which must be corrected promptly during production.

Physical stamina and precision are essential components of this job. The handler will spend long hours standing and managing repetitive tasks while ensuring optimal machine performance. Lifting and maneuvering product loads, adjusting slicing attachments, and cleaning large equipment pieces require strength and dexterity. The ability to work efficiently in chilled environments, such as cold rooms or refrigerated zones, is also expected.

Safety and cleanliness are core priorities. The Automated Slicer Handler must strictly adhere to food safety protocols, particularly in cleaning routines and product handling. Machines must be cleaned and sanitized after each shift or batch change to prevent cross-contamination. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with internal hygiene standards are required at all times.

Collaboration with other team members—including production leads, quality control staff, and maintenance personnel—is a regular part of the job. The handler must be proactive in reporting equipment malfunctions, product inconsistencies, or production delays. A reliable, methodical, and safety-focused approach ensures the handler can meet daily performance goals while maintaining high standards in Lyon’s dynamic food production industry.
