The Offshore Welding Technician will perform specialized welding and metal fabrication tasks on offshore oil and gas platforms located near Rome. This role is critical for maintaining and repairing structural components, pipelines, and equipment exposed to harsh marine environments, ensuring operational safety and integrity.

Key responsibilities include executing various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding to fabricate, join, and repair metal parts. The technician will inspect welds for quality and compliance with industry standards, conduct routine maintenance of welding equipment, and follow detailed technical drawings and specifications.

Strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations is mandatory, with active participation in safety meetings and emergency drills. The technician will collaborate closely with engineers, rig personnel, and safety officers to ensure welding tasks support overall project timelines without compromising quality or safety.

Candidates must have proven offshore welding experience, relevant certifications (e.g., ASME, AWS), and deep knowledge of welding procedures for carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys used in oil and gas applications. Physical fitness, ability to work in confined spaces and challenging offshore conditions, and proficiency in Italian and English for effective communication are essential.

  • Proven experience as an Offshore Welding Technician, preferably within the oil and gas industry or offshore environments.

  • Certified welder with qualifications such as ASME, AWS, or equivalent recognized welding certifications.

  • Proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, SMAW (arc welding), and oxy-fuel welding, especially for materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and high-grade alloys.

  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety regulations applicable to offshore oil and gas operations, including Italian and EU legislation.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures accurately.

  • Experience performing inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure weld integrity and compliance with quality standards.

  • Physically fit and capable of working in challenging offshore conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and varying weather.

  • Commitment to strict safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and participation in safety drills and risk assessments.

  • Good communication skills in Italian and a working knowledge of English to collaborate effectively with multinational teams and report on work progress.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time efficiently to meet project deadlines.

  • Flexibility to work shifts, extended hours, and travel as required by offshore project schedules.
