Based in Florence, the specialist ensures all medical billing activities comply with applicable coding standards and insurance regulations, supporting timely reimbursements and efficient revenue cycle management.
Key duties include assigning ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to clinical documentation, auditing claims for compliance, resolving discrepancies, and submitting billing data to insurers and other payers. The specialist also communicates with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients to clarify information, manage rejections, and ensure proper follow-up.
Proficiency in medical coding software, EHR systems, and billing platforms is essential. The role requires a solid understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, and regulatory guidelines such as HIPAA and GDPR.

Candidates must hold a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing & Coding, Life Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline. Certification from a recognized body such as AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (CCS) is highly preferred. A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in medical coding and billing, ideally within a BPO/KPO or healthcare support services environment, is required.
Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems is essential. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech, as well as medical billing software, is expected. Applicants must have a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes, insurance claims handling, and regulatory compliance including HIPAA and GDPR.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to interpret complex medical records are critical. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also necessary to resolve claim rejections, billing errors, and provider queries.
