Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable General Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team in Lisbon, Portugal. As the General Counsel, you will be the chief legal advisor to the organization, responsible for providing expert legal counsel, managing legal affairs, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Your strong leadership, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate complex legal issues will be instrumental in safeguarding our business and guiding us towards ethical and compliant practices. Key Responsibilities: Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management and various departments on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, transactions, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance. Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks and potential liabilities, developing strategies to mitigate risks and protect the organization's interests. Contracts and Agreements: Review, draft, and negotiate complex legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with legal requirements. Compliance Oversight: Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs, monitoring adherence to legal and regulatory obligations, both locally and internationally. Litigation Management: Oversee and coordinate legal actions, disputes, and litigations involving the organization, engaging external counsel when necessary. Corporate Governance: Advise on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Regulatory Affairs: Stay updated with changes in relevant laws and regulations, and keep the organization informed of potential impacts on its operations. Training and Education: Conduct legal training sessions for employees and management to enhance awareness of legal issues and promote compliance. External Relations: Represent the organization in legal matters with external stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.

Job Requirement: Qualifications and Requirements: Law degree from a recognized university. Additional qualifications or Master's degree in Law or a related field are preferred. Proven experience as a General Counsel or senior legal role within the Legal & Compliance industry. Strong knowledge of local and international laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Excellent legal research, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, with a focus on building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Leadership and managerial experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a legal team effectively. Demonstrated ethical conduct and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information. Fluency in Portuguese and English is required; proficiency in other languages is advantageous.
