Job Description:
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within oil and gas facilities in Umm Salal, Qatar. This role is crucial for ensuring the uninterrupted and safe operation of electrical power distribution, lighting, motor control centers, and instrumentation systems across production sites, processing units, and support infrastructure.
Key duties include inspecting and troubleshooting electrical faults, replacing defective wiring and components, testing circuit continuity, and ensuring compliance with national electrical codes and company safety policies. The electrician collaborates closely with maintenance teams, engineers, and control room staff to promptly resolve power outages, short circuits, or equipment failures that could impact plant operations.
The Industrial Electrician also performs scheduled preventive maintenance on generators, transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers. They are expected to read and interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams, document all work through maintenance systems, and assist during shutdowns or commissioning of new electrical systems. High safety awareness is essential due to the flammable and hazardous nature of the oil and gas environment.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or trade certification in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Electricity.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance within the oil and gas or heavy industrial sectors.
Skills:
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
Skilled in diagnosing and resolving electrical faults in high- and low-voltage systems.
Proficient in using testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, and loop testers.
Ability to read blueprints and follow electrical schematics.
Familiarity with motor control centers, PLCs, and electrical safety devices.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work in high-temperature, confined, or hazardous environments.
Strong adherence to HSE protocols and use of PPE.
Flexibility to work in shifts, emergencies, and during equipment overhauls.
Valid electrical license or permit in accordance with Qatari regulations is a plus.
