Job Description:
The Fish Farm Worker in Ankara is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to the rearing, feeding, harvesting, and health monitoring of fish in aquaculture operations. These tasks are vital for maintaining optimal growth conditions and ensuring the sustainable and efficient production of fish for commercial purposes, such as food supply, stock enhancement, or ornamental trade.
Typical daily duties include feeding fish according to nutritional schedules, monitoring fish behavior, assisting with grading and transferring fish between tanks or ponds, and recording water quality metrics like temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen levels. The Fish Farm Worker also performs cleaning and maintenance of tanks, cages, and equipment to maintain sanitary conditions and prevent the spread of disease. When needed, they assist with spawning, egg incubation, and fry rearing processes. Additionally, workers participate in harvesting operations, which include catching, netting, sorting, weighing, and packaging fish for distribution.
This role requires strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and biosecurity standards to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks and ensure the health and well-being of fish stock. Workers often operate pumps, aerators, feeders, and filtration systems and are responsible for ensuring they function correctly. The job can involve working in both indoor and outdoor settings, including onshore tanks and offshore cages, and may require work in all weather conditions. Workers must also handle fish humanely, reducing stress and mortality during handling and transport.
Teamwork is essential in this position, as the worker will coordinate with aquaculture technicians, supervisors, veterinarians, and quality assurance personnel to maintain fish health and meet production targets. Strong observational skills are needed to detect early signs of disease, injury, or stress among fish, and timely reporting is crucial to avoid losses.
