Job Description:
The General Warehouse Worker plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of a warehouse facility by performing a wide range of tasks to support the efficient storage, handling, and distribution of goods. This position involves physical labor, organization, and teamwork to ensure timely movement and accurate tracking of inventory within the warehouse. The worker assists in receiving shipments, checking goods for damage or accuracy, organizing products in storage areas, and preparing items for dispatch.
Key responsibilities include unloading incoming shipments, verifying packing lists against received items, placing products in their designated storage locations, and retrieving stock based on order requirements. The warehouse worker also assists with inventory checks, labeling and tagging products, repackaging items when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas. Safety and accuracy are top priorities in all tasks.
This role may involve working with warehouse management systems (WMS), barcode scanners, and manual or powered material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trolleys. The worker must follow company policies on health, safety, and hygiene to prevent workplace hazards and ensure a safe environment for themselves and their colleagues. In some facilities, shift work or weekend duties may be required to support round-the-clock operations.
Job Requirement:
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Candidates must be physically fit, capable of lifting heavy items, and able to work on their feet for extended periods. Prior experience in warehouse operations is an advantage but not mandatory, as on-the-job training may be provided. Basic math, reading, and organizational skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions. Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and use of equipment such as barcode scanners or pallet jacks is beneficial. A positive attitude, teamwork, and punctuality are highly valued in this role.
