Working in production facilities, equipment yards, or field assembly environments, Assembly Fitters interpret technical drawings, follow detailed work instructions, and use a range of hand and power tools to assemble machines such as engines, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and structural frameworks.
Responsibilities include fitting bearings, shafts, motors, and structural parts; aligning and testing mechanical systems; and using precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Assembly Fitters are often involved in installing hydraulic and pneumatic components, performing pre-delivery inspections, and collaborating with engineers to resolve mechanical issues. The role also requires identifying faulty parts, reworking sub-assemblies, and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed during the build process.

A deep understanding of mechanical components, blueprints, and assembly drawings is critical.
Proficiency in the use of hand tools, torque wrenches, presses, and lifting equipment is necessary, as is familiarity with industrial safety regulations and procedures. Candidates must be able to work independently or as part of a team, show problem-solving skills, and commit to maintaining product quality and safe work practices.
Prior experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or rotating equipment will be highly valued, as well as the ability to perform functional testing and commissioning. Good communication and time management skills, along with a willingness to undertake repetitive tasks or overtime as required, are essential.
