We are seeking an innovative and technically skilled Sustainable Aviation Systems Expert to lead the integration of sustainable technologies and practices into Florence Airport’s operations and infrastructure. This role focuses on advancing the airport’s environmental goals by implementing low-emission systems, energy-efficient solutions, and sustainable airside and landside technologies.
Key responsibilities include assessing current operational systems, identifying opportunities for carbon reduction, and overseeing the deployment of renewable energy sources, electric ground support equipment (e-GSE), smart building systems, and sustainable mobility solutions. The expert will collaborate with engineering teams, airport planners, regulatory bodies, and environmental specialists to ensure that new systems comply with ENAC, ICAO, and EU environmental standards.
The role also involves developing sustainability roadmaps, participating in feasibility studies, evaluating emerging green aviation technologies, and supporting funding applications for sustainability projects. Regular reporting on performance indicators, environmental impact, and compliance will be essential.
The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of sustainable aviation technologies, infrastructure systems, and green airport operations. Strong technical, analytical, and project management skills are required. Candidates for the Sustainable Aviation Systems Expert role must possess a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Aviation, Renewable Energy Systems, or a related technical field. A master’s degree in Sustainable Infrastructure, Aviation Environmental Management, or Green Technologies is highly desirable.
Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience in sustainable systems implementation within the aviation, transportation, or infrastructure sector. Demonstrated expertise in areas such as energy-efficient design, electric mobility, carbon footprint analysis, and integration of renewable energy systems is required. Familiarity with airport-specific systems, including electric ground support equipment (e-GSE), smart building technologies, and green infrastructure planning, is a strong advantage.
Candidates must have thorough knowledge of ENAC, ICAO (particularly Annex 16), EASA, and EU environmental compliance standards. Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools, life cycle assessment (LCA), and environmental performance software is preferred. Fluency in both Italian and English is mandatory.
