Job Description:

The Product Conveyor Technician in Al Farwaniyah is a specialized technical role focused on maintaining, repairing, and optimizing conveyor systems used in food and beverage manufacturing. Conveyors are critical components of modern food production lines, responsible for the smooth and sanitary transportation of ingredients, semi-processed goods, and packaged products from one processing stage to another. This technician ensures that these systems function reliably, safely, and in full compliance with hygiene regulations.

Key responsibilities include routine inspections of conveyor belts, motors, rollers, gearboxes, and control systems. The technician is responsible for diagnosing mechanical or electrical faults, conducting emergency repairs, replacing worn components, and aligning conveyor systems to prevent belt slippage or misalignment. They also clean, lubricate, and adjust parts to maintain optimal performance while ensuring the belts do not pose contamination risks to food items.

This role works closely with production managers and maintenance teams to minimize downtime during production runs. In addition, the technician plays a vital part during equipment upgrades, installations, or plant expansions by helping integrate new conveyor lines or modify existing ones to suit changing production needs.

Sanitation is a major concern in the food industry, so the technician must understand and adhere to food safety protocols, particularly in preventing the contamination of food contact surfaces. In Al Farwaniyah’s high-output facilities, the technician may work in shifts and be called in for emergency repairs during off-hours to maintain continuous operations.

Job Requirement:

  • Technical diploma or certification in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field.

  • At least 2–3 years of experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems in food or beverage production environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical components such as belts, pulleys, rollers, bearings, and drive systems.

  • Working familiarity with electrical systems, including sensors, motor controllers, PLCs, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults quickly and accurately under time pressure.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and machine repair equipment.

  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and food industry sanitation standards.

  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory requirements related to equipment cleanliness and maintenance.

  • Physical capability to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, lift up to 25 kg, and operate in hot, cold, or humid environments.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.

  • Skilled in documenting maintenance activities, inspections, and parts replacements in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with production supervisors, quality assurance, and maintenance managers.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and be on-call for urgent repair needs.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to preventing production delays or contamination through proper equipment upkeep.

  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn new systems and technologies as manufacturing processes evolve.
