Job Description:

The Capacity Building Specialist Consultant in Bordeaux will play a crucial role in enhancing the organizational effectiveness and sustainability of nonprofit programs. This position focuses on assessing, designing, and implementing capacity-building initiatives that improve the operational capabilities of nonprofit organizations. The Capacity Building Specialist will work with both internal teams and external partners to identify key areas for improvement and offer strategic recommendations to strengthen the organization’s overall impact.

A primary responsibility of this role is conducting thorough needs assessments to identify gaps in organizational capacity. This may include evaluating the effectiveness of programs, reviewing the skills and knowledge of staff members, and analyzing resource allocation. Based on the findings, the consultant will develop targeted capacity-building plans, which may include training, technical assistance, mentorship, and other forms of support to address the identified needs.

The Capacity Building Specialist will also be responsible for facilitating workshops and training sessions for staff, volunteers, and partners to enhance their skills and effectiveness in their roles. This may involve topics such as leadership development, fundraising strategies, monitoring and evaluation methods, or organizational management. The specialist will also create and deliver customized materials, resources, and tools to support the capacity-building process, ensuring they are aligned with the nonprofit's mission and objectives.

In addition to building the internal capacity of the organization, the consultant will work to foster relationships with key stakeholders, such as donors, collaborators, and community leaders, to strengthen the nonprofit’s partnerships and networks. The role will also involve monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of capacity-building interventions, tracking progress over time, and providing feedback for continuous improvement.

Job Requirement:

The Capacity Building Specialist Consultant must possess a deep understanding of nonprofit operations and a strong commitment to enhancing organizational capacity. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to assess and diagnose organizational needs, as well as develop and implement effective capacity-building interventions that lead to measurable improvements.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills are essential for this role, as the consultant will be working closely with staff at all levels within the organization, as well as external stakeholders. The ability to convey complex information in an understandable and engaging way is key, especially when conducting training or workshops. Strong presentation and public speaking skills will be necessary for delivering content to diverse audiences.

The consultant must have a strategic mindset and the ability to think creatively about how to overcome challenges and build capacity in a way that aligns with the nonprofit’s goals. Flexibility and adaptability are also important, as the consultant may be required to adjust plans or approaches based on the specific needs of different organizations.

Strong project management skills are required, as the Capacity Building Specialist will be managing multiple capacity-building projects simultaneously. This includes planning, coordinating, and monitoring activities to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. The consultant should be comfortable working independently and managing their own time while also collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

In addition to technical knowledge, a passion for social impact and a deep understanding of nonprofit sector dynamics are essential. The consultant should be able to inspire and motivate individuals to engage in capacity-building activities and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.
