Job Description:

Job Title: Sound and Vibration Engineer
Location: Florence, Italy
Industry: Shipbuilding & Ship Machinery

Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Sound and Vibration Engineer to join our shipbuilding engineering team in Florence, Italy. This role focuses on the analysis, control, and reduction of noise and vibration across ship structures, onboard systems, and propulsion units to enhance passenger comfort, crew safety, and compliance with maritime acoustic standards.

The engineer will be responsible for conducting modal, acoustic, and structural vibration analysis using tools such as FEM and BEM software, along with field measurements and diagnostics using accelerometers, microphones, and data acquisition systems. Responsibilities include identifying sources of noise and vibration, proposing mitigation solutions (e.g., damping systems, isolation mounts, acoustic insulation), and supporting implementation during ship design and construction.

Collaboration with naval architects, mechanical and electrical engineers, and classification bodies is a key part of the role to ensure compliance with RINA, DNV, and IMO regulations. The engineer will contribute to the acoustic design of cabins, engine rooms, and HVAC systems, and provide recommendations for vibration standards across ship classes.

This role offers a critical opportunity to enhance vessel quality and performance through precise sound and vibration management, supporting both technical excellence and maritime regulatory compliance.

Job Requirement:

Job Requirements: Sound and Vibration Engineer
Location: Florence, Italy
Industry: Shipbuilding & Ship Machinery

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in noise and vibration analysis, preferably within the shipbuilding or marine industry, is essential.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in using analysis and simulation tools such as ANSYS, LMS Virtual.Lab, VA One, or similar FEM/BEM software. Experience with field measurement instruments like accelerometers, hydrophones, sound level meters, and data acquisition systems is required.

Strong understanding of acoustic principles, structural dynamics, modal analysis, and noise control engineering is vital. Familiarity with marine regulations and standards from classification societies such as RINA, DNV, and IMO is mandatory.

The role requires analytical thinking, strong problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ability to interpret technical drawings, develop mitigation strategies, and compile comprehensive acoustic reports is essential.

Fluency in Italian is required for effective coordination within shipyards and local engineering teams; proficiency in English is preferred for technical documentation and international communication. A commitment to precision, safety, and regulatory compliance is critical to success in this position.
