Job Description:
The Audio Engineer in Vancouver is responsible for capturing, manipulating, and enhancing sound for use in music production, film, television, video games, and live performances. Working in studios, post-production facilities, or live venues, the Audio Engineer operates sophisticated recording and mixing equipment to produce high-quality audio content tailored to creative and technical standards.
Key duties include setting up microphones, mixing consoles, and audio processing gear, as well as monitoring and adjusting sound levels during recording or live sessions. The engineer collaborates closely with producers, directors, and musicians to ensure the intended audio experience is achieved. They may also manage sound editing, synchronization, and mastering processes for final delivery.
In post-production environments, responsibilities extend to noise reduction, dialogue replacement, and balancing music and effects. A strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, and digital audio workstations (DAWs) is essential. The role may involve travel and working irregular hours depending on project timelines and live event requirements.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, Music Technology, or related field.
Experience: 2–4 years in studio, broadcast, or live sound environments.
Skills:
Proficiency in DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton).
Strong knowledge of microphones, mixers, EQ, compression, and acoustics.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve audio signal issues quickly.
Attention to sonic detail and creative audio enhancement.
Language: Proficient in English; French is an asset in national projects.
