Job Description:
The AV Installation Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining audio-visual (AV) systems in residential, commercial, and institutional settings across Vancouver. This role involves setting up projectors, video walls, sound systems, conferencing equipment, control panels, and integrated media networks for offices, schools, event spaces, and public venues.
Technicians interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and customer specifications to ensure proper placement and function of AV components. Responsibilities include cable pulling and termination, mounting equipment, testing signal flow, and ensuring system interoperability. The technician works closely with project managers, IT teams, and electricians to deliver turnkey AV solutions on time and within specifications.
Ongoing support duties may include troubleshooting hardware/software issues, updating firmware, and training end users on system operation. The technician must maintain documentation of installed systems, service reports, and inventory of AV components. The position may require travel to job sites throughout the Vancouver metro area.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or certificate in electronics, telecommunications, or AV technology.
Experience: 2–3 years in AV installation or systems integration preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in AV systems (HDMI, VGA, Crestron, Extron, Zoom, etc.).
Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and AV layout plans.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, drills, cable testers, and signal analyzers.
Strong problem-solving and customer service abilities.
Language: English fluency is required; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts) and confined spaces.
Knowledge of BC electrical and building codes is an asset.
Willingness to work evenings or weekends based on project demands.
