The Battery Repair Technician in Winnipeg is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of batteries used in industrial, commercial, and residential applications. This includes lead-acid, lithium-ion, nickel-cadmium, and other rechargeable battery systems found in backup power units, vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, and electronic devices.
The technician’s key duties involve identifying malfunctioning cells or circuits, cleaning terminals, replacing damaged parts, conducting load tests, and ensuring overall battery health and safety. They may also perform firmware updates or recalibrate battery management systems. Regular maintenance includes checking electrolyte levels, reconditioning old units, and advising clients on battery usage and lifespan extension.
Working in both shop and field settings, the technician must ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding battery handling and disposal. Precise documentation of test results, repair logs, and part replacements is essential.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma required; technical certification in electronics or battery systems is preferred.
Experience: 1–2 years in battery repair, electronics servicing, or a related technical field.
Skills:
Familiarity with battery types, charging systems, and testing equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and circuit repair skills.
Understanding of electrical safety and ESD protection.
Competence in interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
Language: English fluency required; additional languages an asset.
