Job Description:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician in Toronto is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment across industrial, commercial, or residential facilities. This technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring electrical safety in operations by performing scheduled and emergency maintenance tasks.
Primary duties include inspecting circuit breakers, transformers, panels, lighting systems, motors, and power distribution units. The technician diagnoses electrical faults, replaces defective components, and ensures all systems function according to local codes and technical standards. Preventive maintenance routines, including testing insulation resistance and thermal scanning, are also part of the job.
Technicians are expected to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. They collaborate with engineers, electricians, and safety inspectors to support operational efficiency and compliance with electrical safety regulations.
Job Requirement:
Education: Completion of a college diploma in electrical engineering technology or a related field; relevant trade certification (e.g., 309A Electrician license) is preferred.
Experience: 2+ years in electrical maintenance within industrial or commercial settings.
Skills:
Strong understanding of electrical codes (e.g., Ontario Electrical Safety Code).
Skilled in using multimeters, thermal imagers, and other diagnostic tools.
Ability to troubleshoot low- and medium-voltage systems.
Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
Language: Fluency in English; ability to interpret technical documents.
