Job Description:
The Plant Electrician in Winnipeg is tasked with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within a manufacturing or processing plant. This role ensures that the plant’s electrical infrastructure operates safely and efficiently to support continuous production.
Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical issues, repairing motors, transformers, control systems, and switchgear, and performing scheduled maintenance to prevent equipment failure. The electrician is also responsible for supporting process automation systems, maintaining power distribution networks, and ensuring compliance with Manitoba’s electrical codes and safety regulations.
This role requires working closely with plant engineers, production managers, and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and implement improvements. The electrician may also assist in upgrading systems for energy efficiency or integrating new machinery into existing electrical frameworks.
Job Requirement:
Education: Certified electrical apprenticeship completion; Red Seal endorsement preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years in a plant or industrial setting, ideally in manufacturing or food processing.
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting skills with AC/DC motors, PLCs, and control panels.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
Experience with preventative maintenance and root cause failure analysis.
Knowledge of industrial automation and motor control systems.
Language: Effective English communication for documentation and team coordination.
Other Requirements:
Valid journeyman electrician license in Manitoba.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, or during plant outages.
Physical ability to work in noisy, dusty, or confined plant environments.
