The Building Systems Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems in commercial or institutional facilities, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards. This includes managing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection systems. The supervisor leads a team of technicians, schedules preventive maintenance, and coordinates corrective actions to address system malfunctions efficiently.
Key duties include supervising daily operations, conducting inspections, reviewing system performance reports, and ensuring energy efficiency measures are implemented. The role requires close collaboration with facility management, vendors, and contractors to maintain building infrastructure and support renovations or upgrades.
The supervisor ensures all systems comply with local regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards. Documentation, budget control, inventory management of spare parts, and report preparation are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role may involve training junior staff and participating in emergency response planning related to facility operations.
This position demands strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and excellent problem-solving skills. A minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance, systems supervision, or facility management is essential, preferably in large commercial or institutional settings. The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing infrastructure, fire safety equipment, and building automation systems. Strong leadership and team management skills are required to oversee technicians and ensure the smooth functioning of all building operations. The role demands a solid understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures, local building codes, health and safety regulations, and energy efficiency practices. Proficiency in using computer-aided facility management systems (CAFM) or CMMS software is preferred. The candidate must be capable of planning, organizing, and executing maintenance schedules while managing resources and budgets efficiently. Good communication and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with the capacity to work under pressure and respond promptly to emergency situations. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts, are also expected.
