Key duties include engaging in friendly conversation, reading, playing games, or accompanying the client on walks or outings. The assistant may help with light household chores such as tidying, meal preparation, laundry, and grocery shopping. They also assist with personal tasks like reminding clients to take medication, dressing support, or assisting with mobility within the home.
The assistant provides companionship that alleviates loneliness and encourages mental and emotional well-being. In some cases, the role includes monitoring the client’s condition and alerting family members or medical professionals to any concerns related to health, behaviour, or safety.
