Job Description:
The Acoustic Insulation Technician in Calgary specializes in installing soundproofing and noise-control materials in buildings to enhance acoustic performance and occupant comfort. This role is essential for projects such as residential complexes, office spaces, recording studios, hospitals, and industrial facilities, where sound isolation or reduction is critical. The technician ensures installations meet specifications for both airborne and impact sound insulation.
Key responsibilities include interpreting acoustic design plans, selecting appropriate insulation materials (such as mineral wool, foam panels, or resilient channels), preparing surfaces, cutting and fitting soundproofing products, sealing gaps, and installing sound barriers around HVAC systems, walls, ceilings, and floors. The technician works closely with contractors, architects, and building engineers to deliver precise and effective acoustic solutions.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in insulation, acoustics, or construction is an asset.
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in insulation, drywall, or acoustic installation preferred.
Skills:
Understanding of acoustic control principles and soundproofing techniques.
Skilled in measuring, cutting, and fitting insulation materials accurately.
Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in acoustic applications.
Ability to read construction drawings and acoustic layouts.
Language: Fluency in English is required.

WHMIS and Fall Protection certifications.
Physical ability to work in enclosed spaces and at heights.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
