Job Description: The Principal Mining Engineer position in Laval, Canada, within the energy utilities industry, is a senior role responsible for providing strategic direction and technical expertise in mining operations. The primary objective of this position is to optimize mining processes and ensure the safe and efficient extraction of energy resources. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for mining operations, considering production targets, resource optimization, cost-efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance and support in mining engineering, including mine design, planning, and optimization. Utilize advanced software and techniques to analyze geological data and optimize mining processes. Project Management: Lead mining projects from initiation to completion, including resource allocation, budgeting, and scheduling. Ensure compliance with project timelines and quality standards. Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Stay updated with industry regulations and best practices. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, environmental engineers, and operations personnel, to optimize mining processes and resolve technical challenges. Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to support decision-making processes. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement in mining operations. Implement best practices and innovative technologies to optimize performance. Mentoring and Leadership: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers. Foster a culture of professional development and knowledge sharing within the team.

Job Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field. Significant experience in mining engineering, preferably in the energy utilities industry. Strong knowledge of mining processes, including mine design, planning, and optimization. Proficiency in mining software and tools for data analysis and modeling. Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling. Understanding of safety protocols and regulatory guidelines in mining operations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with environmental and sustainability considerations in mining operations. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
