Job Description:

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Hamilton supports patients in home-based settings by providing essential medical and personal care under the supervision of a nurse or health professional. CNAs assist with daily living tasks such as bathing, toileting, grooming, feeding, and mobility. They also monitor vital signs, track fluid intake/output, report patient conditions, and help with exercises or physical therapy. The role involves significant one-on-one interaction, offering both medical and emotional support to individuals recovering from surgery, managing chronic conditions, or aging in place. CNAs may assist with administering medications and handling medical equipment, depending on regulation and employer needs. Cleanliness, infection control, and adherence to patient care plans are critical. The CNA works closely with family members and caregivers, providing updates and adjusting support based on the patient’s needs. The role requires physical stamina, empathy, and a strong sense of professionalism.

Job Requirement:

Applicants must hold a New Zealand-recognized Certified Nursing Assistant qualification or equivalent with current registration. At least one year of hands-on experience in home care or a clinical setting is expected. Strong knowledge of elder care practices, basic medical terminology, and hygiene procedures is essential. CNAs must demonstrate compassion, time management, and the ability to handle physical tasks. A valid driver’s license, clean police record, and up-to-date immunizations are required. Good communication skills and the ability to work flexible shifts, including nights or weekends, are necessary.
