Job Description:
The Residential Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of private residences and their occupants in Dunedin. This role includes patrolling assigned premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, verifying visitors, and responding to security incidents swiftly. The officer is expected to be highly alert, discreet, and capable of handling emergencies. Duties involve performing routine checks of entrances, exits, and security systems; documenting incidents or suspicious activity; managing access control protocols; and coordinating with emergency services when necessary. In some cases, they may also assist with monitoring deliveries, managing alarms, or operating gate control systems. A key part of this position is establishing a sense of trust and discretion within the household environment. The Residential Security Officer must maintain a visible yet non-intrusive presence, offering a sense of security while respecting the privacy of residents. Flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, may be required. The position requires excellent observational skills, physical fitness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Job Requirement:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; security or safety certifications preferred
Experience: 2+ years in private or residential security roles
Skills: Surveillance monitoring, emergency response, interpersonal communication, physical fitness
Other Requirements: Clean criminal record, valid driver’s license, first aid training preferred
