Job Description:
The Central Sterile Technician in Abu Dhabi plays a critical role in maintaining the sterile supply chain within healthcare facilities. This technician is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment used in operating rooms and clinical units.
Core duties include sorting used instruments from various hospital departments, cleaning them manually and via washer-disinfectors, and ensuring they are thoroughly inspected for damage or malfunction. The technician assembles instrument trays based on surgical procedure types, packages them per protocol, and runs them through appropriate sterilization cycles such as autoclaving or gas sterilization.
Maintaining accurate records of sterilization logs, monitoring biological and chemical indicators, and conducting quality control checks are essential parts of the role. Additionally, the technician is responsible for storing sterile supplies in designated areas, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of kits to operating suites and patient care areas.
This position demands meticulous attention to detail, thorough knowledge of infection prevention protocols, and the ability to handle sophisticated sterilization equipment. Central Sterile Technicians work in high-demand, time-sensitive environments and may need to cover evening, night, and weekend shifts.
