Job Description:
The Fiber Optic Splicer is responsible for the precise joining of fiber optic cables to create continuous data transmission lines used in telecommunications, internet infrastructure, and network systems. This role requires the technician to prepare fiber cables by stripping, cleaving, and cleaning before using fusion splicing or mechanical splicing techniques to join fibers with minimal loss or reflection. The splicer tests and inspects splices using optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDR) and other diagnostic tools to ensure signal integrity and meets quality standards. Additional tasks include documenting splice records, maintaining equipment, and performing routine preventive maintenance on fiber optic networks. Working outdoors and in confined spaces, the splicer often collaborates with engineers and field technicians during installation or repair projects. Given Dubai’s fast-growing smart city and telecom infrastructure, the role demands high precision, excellent troubleshooting skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent damage and network downtime. This position directly supports the reliable delivery of high-speed data and communications services.
