Job Description:
The 3D CAD Designer is responsible for creating detailed three-dimensional models to support shipbuilding design and production. Based in Winnipeg, this role focuses on transforming engineering concepts into precise, production-ready 3D designs for hulls, mechanical systems, structural assemblies, and shipboard equipment.
Key responsibilities include developing 3D CAD models, collaborating with naval architects, engineers, and production teams, and ensuring all designs comply with Canadian and international shipbuilding standards. The designer reviews and updates CAD documentation, facilitates design modifications, and supports manufacturability assessments. Additionally, the role involves troubleshooting design issues, integrating components across disciplines, and maintaining accurate records of design iterations.
The 3D CAD Designer contributes to the success of shipbuilding projects by providing high-quality, accurate 3D designs that improve production efficiency and reduce errors. By delivering reliable CAD models, the designer supports engineering, production, and quality assurance teams, ensuring the timely and efficient construction of vessels within Canada’s shipbuilding industry.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, CAD Design, or a related field.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in 3D CAD design, preferably in shipbuilding, mechanical, or industrial projects.
Skills:
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD 3D, or similar).
Knowledge of shipbuilding standards, structural systems, and mechanical assemblies.
Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documents.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
Familiarity with Canadian and international shipbuilding standards.
Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
