Job Description:
The CAD Drafter is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans to support shipbuilding projects. Based in Edmonton, this role focuses on transforming engineering concepts and specifications into accurate, precise, and production-ready drawings for hulls, systems, and structural components.
Key responsibilities include interpreting engineering designs, preparing 2D and 3D CAD drawings, collaborating with engineers and production teams, and ensuring that all drawings comply with Canadian and international shipbuilding standards. The drafter also updates and maintains drawing databases, ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation, and supports modifications or revisions as required during construction.
The CAD Drafter plays a crucial role in ensuring that shipbuilding projects are executed accurately and efficiently. By providing high-quality technical drawings, the drafter supports engineering, production, and quality assurance teams, contributing to the successful delivery of vessels in Canada’s shipbuilding industry.
Job Requirement:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in CAD drafting, preferably in shipbuilding, mechanical, or industrial projects.
Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).
Knowledge of shipbuilding processes, structural design, and engineering drawings.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with Canadian and international shipbuilding standards.
Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.

Strong organizational and communication skills.
Willingness to work onsite in shipyards, design offices, or production facilities.
