Job Description:
The Compliance and Certification Officer is responsible for ensuring that all shipbuilding projects and vessel operations adhere to regulatory standards, certifications, and industry best practices. Based in Toronto, this role focuses on monitoring compliance with Canadian and international maritime regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
Key responsibilities include reviewing documentation, conducting audits, verifying compliance with design and construction specifications, and coordinating certification processes. The officer collaborates with engineering, production, and safety teams to ensure that all systems, components, and processes meet regulatory and industry requirements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining records of certifications, supporting inspections, and providing guidance to teams to address compliance gaps.
The Compliance and Certification Officer contributes to the reliability, safety, and legal compliance of shipbuilding projects by ensuring that all operations meet established standards. By providing regulatory oversight and certification support, the officer helps guarantee the successful delivery of high-quality vessels within Canada’s shipbuilding industry.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Quality Management, or a related field.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in compliance, certification, or regulatory management, preferably in shipbuilding or maritime projects.
Skills:
Knowledge of Canadian and international maritime regulations and standards.
Ability to conduct audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Familiarity with certification processes and quality assurance protocols.
Language: Proficiency in English; French is an asset.
