Job Description:

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Technician in Edmonton is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of EV charging stations in residential, commercial, and public locations. The technician installs charging units, connects electrical wiring, ensures proper grounding, and performs system testing to guarantee safe and efficient operation.

Daily responsibilities include site assessments, mounting charging equipment, configuring software settings, troubleshooting electrical issues, and providing user support. The technician collaborates with electricians, project managers, and utility providers to ensure compliance with local electrical codes and safety standards.

This role requires working in diverse environments, including outdoor installations and confined spaces, with a strong emphasis on safety and precision. The EV Charging Technician supports Edmonton’s transition to sustainable transportation by enabling reliable electric vehicle infrastructure.

Job Requirement:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical work or renewable energy preferred.

Experience: 1–3 years in electrical installation, preferably with experience in EV charging systems.

Skills:

Knowledge of EV charging technologies and electrical wiring.

Ability to read electrical diagrams and follow installation manuals.

Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and software issues.

Strong understanding of electrical codes and safety regulations.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Language: Basic English communication for reporting and coordination.

Other Requirements:

Valid electrician’s license or certification is an advantage.

Driver’s license with clean record for site travel.

Physical fitness to work in various weather and elevated conditions.
