Job Description:
A Garment Care Assistant in Al Farwaniyah is responsible for the daily upkeep, organization, and specialized treatment of household garments, including delicate fabrics and high-end clothing. This role supports the broader housekeeping or laundry team in maintaining pristine garment presentation for all household members. The assistant will carry out washing, ironing, folding, and storage while adhering to fabric-specific care protocols.
Responsibilities include the separation of clothing based on material and color, using appropriate detergents, monitoring washing machine and dryer settings to prevent damage, and handwashing delicate or specialty items. The Garment Care Assistant also performs minor repairs such as button replacements, seam mending, and zipper adjustments. Proper ironing or steaming of suits, formalwear, and casual garments to maintain a neat appearance is essential. Garments must be stored in a methodical manner, with a cataloging system for seasonal or specialty attire.
Additionally, the assistant should maintain the laundry area’s cleanliness and ensure inventory of cleaning agents, tools, and supplies is updated. Collaboration with other domestic staff is required for scheduled laundry pickups, delivery, or wardrobe preparation for travel or events.
Job Requirement:
Candidates should have at least a high school education or equivalent and previous experience in a similar garment care or laundry-related position. Familiarity with different fabrics (silk, wool, cotton, linen, synthetic blends) and their handling requirements is critical. The candidate must be proficient with both standard washing and high-end ironing or steaming tools.
Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and time management are essential traits. Knowledge of spot treatment techniques and familiarity with eco-friendly cleaning practices will be highly regarded. Candidates must be physically fit to stand for long periods, handle heavy laundry loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
Trustworthiness, discretion, and professionalism are vital as the assistant may be entrusted with expensive garments or personal belongings. Fluency in basic English or Arabic for communication and following instructions is desirable.
