Job Description: The Carpenter in the Shipbuilding & Ship Machinery industry in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures and fittings on ships and marine vessels. The primary duties and responsibilities may include: Woodwork Construction: Construct and install wooden structures, such as bulkheads, decks, cabinets, furniture, and fittings, according to specifications and blueprints. Repair and Maintenance: Repair and replace damaged or worn-out wooden components on ships, including floors, walls, doors, windows, and stairs. Measurement and Cutting: Take accurate measurements, mark and cut wooden materials using hand and power tools, ensuring precision and proper fit. Assembly and Installation: Assemble wooden parts and fittings, and install them securely using nails, screws, adhesives, or other appropriate fastening methods. Finishing and Refinishing: Apply finishes, varnishes, and coatings to protect and enhance the appearance of wooden surfaces, ensuring a smooth and polished finish. Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making necessary adjustments or repairs as required. Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and equipment. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, such as electricians, plumbers, and welders, to ensure coordinated efforts in shipbuilding projects. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of carpentry work performed, including materials used, measurements, and project progress. Problem-solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to carpentry work, and propose solutions to overcome challenges or improve efficiency.

Job Requirement: Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Proven experience as a carpenter, preferably in the shipbuilding or marine industry. Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and construction plans. Skilled in using a wide range of carpentry tools and equipment. Attention to detail and precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling wooden components. Understanding of safety procedures and practices in carpentry work. Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work in various positions. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Valid certification or training in carpentry is advantageous.
