Job Description:
The Elderly Support Worker plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for senior individuals residing in private homes or care environments. This position involves delivering compassionate, patient-centered care tailored to the specific health, mobility, and emotional needs of elderly clients. Key duties include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and feeding, as well as offering mobility support to ensure safety during movement within the home. The role also requires monitoring and reporting any changes in the client’s health status, providing reminders or administering prescribed medications (if permitted), and maintaining detailed records of care activities. The caregiver helps in preparing nutritious meals that meet dietary guidelines and ensures the living environment is clean, safe, and organized. Additional responsibilities may include light housekeeping, laundry, and accompanying clients to medical appointments, errands, or social outings. Emotional support is a core component of this role; caregivers are expected to provide companionship, engage in conversation, and encourage mental and emotional stimulation. The Elderly Support Worker must practice confidentiality, uphold dignity, and establish trust while respecting the independence and preferences of the client. The role requires resilience, adaptability, and a genuine dedication to caring for the elderly with kindness and professionalism.
Job Requirement:
Applicants should have prior experience working with elderly individuals, either in home care, assisted living, or medical settings. A basic understanding of geriatric care, chronic illness management, and mobility assistance is essential. Candidates must show empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills. Physical fitness and emotional resilience are necessary due to the demands of the role. Basic proficiency in English or Arabic is important for effective communication.
