The Earth Science Specialist in Rome plays a key role in supporting sustainable energy development by applying expertise in geology, geophysics, and environmental sciences to assess land, subsurface, and resource conditions. Working within the Energy & Utilities industry, the specialist evaluates geological formations, natural hazards, and environmental impacts to guide infrastructure planning, site selection, and energy exploration activities.

Key responsibilities include conducting geological surveys, interpreting geophysical data, and performing soil and rock analysis to assess site suitability for projects such as renewable energy installations, oil and gas operations, or geothermal development. The specialist prepares technical reports, risk assessments, and compliance documentation aligned with Italian and EU environmental regulations.

The role involves close collaboration with engineers, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure projects meet safety, sustainability, and operational requirements. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in the energy or environmental sector is required, preferably in project assessment, geological evaluation, or geotechnical investigations.

Strong knowledge of geological mapping, seismic interpretation, and soil and rock mechanics is essential. Proficiency in geoscience software such as ArcGIS, Petrel, Leapfrog, or similar tools is mandatory. Experience with remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and environmental impact assessment (EIA) methodologies is highly valued.

Applicants should demonstrate a sound understanding of Italy’s environmental regulations and European sustainability directives relevant to the energy and utilities sector. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for interpreting complex data and providing actionable recommendations.
