A Respiratory Therapist in the Agriculture & Fisheries sector in Florence is responsible for evaluating, treating, and managing respiratory conditions commonly experienced by workers exposed to dust, chemicals, allergens, and strenuous physical activity. This role is essential in ensuring the respiratory health and safety of individuals working in farming, fisheries, and related environments.
Key responsibilities include conducting pulmonary function tests, administering oxygen therapy, providing bronchodilator treatments, and managing patients with asthma, chronic bronchitis, or work-related lung injuries. The Respiratory Therapist collaborates with physicians and occupational health teams to develop care plans tailored to the needs of agricultural and fisheries workers, both in clinical settings and through mobile health services.
In addition, the role involves educating workers on respiratory safety practices, such as the correct use of protective equipment, early detection of respiratory symptoms, and strategies for managing exposure to airborne irritants. The therapist may also contribute to health surveillance programs that monitor the long-term respiratory well-being of seasonal and full-time laborers.
Requirements:
Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field and license to practice in Italy
Experience in occupational or rural healthcare preferred
Knowledge of respiratory illnesses related to agriculture and fisheries work
Proficiency in Italian; other languages are a plus
