Job Description:

The Bar Service Worker in Hamilton plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding beverage service in bars, lounges, restaurants, and event venues. This position involves preparing and serving drinks—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—according to customer orders and venue standards. The Bar Service Worker assists in setting up the bar area, restocking supplies, slicing garnishes, and maintaining cleanliness throughout service. Duties also include taking orders, handling cash or card transactions, and ensuring age-verification protocols are followed. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to engage with patrons, offer drink suggestions, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Teamwork is essential as the Bar Service Worker must coordinate with bartenders, waitstaff, and kitchen personnel to deliver a smooth customer experience. Maintaining hygiene and safety standards, cleaning glassware, and assisting with inventory checks are also key tasks. Whether working behind a formal hotel bar or a casual pub counter, the Bar Service Worker must be energetic, detail-oriented, and capable of working in high-pressure, social environments.

Job Requirement:

Education: No formal education required; a high school diploma is beneficial.

Experience: Prior experience in a bar, club, or restaurant is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills: Excellent communication, multitasking, basic math for billing, and familiarity with drink recipes.

Other Requirements: Must meet legal age to serve alcohol in New Zealand. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is essential. RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification may be required depending on the venue.
