Job Description:
The Barback Support Staff plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the efficient operation of a bar within hospitality establishments across Auckland. Working closely with bartenders and the front-of-house team, the barback is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, and ensuring the bar area is always ready for service. Key duties include replenishing liquor, beer, glassware, and garnishes; clearing and cleaning used glassware and bar tools; and organizing storage areas to ensure quick and easy access during peak hours. The role demands a high level of physical stamina, attention to detail, and time management. Barbacks may also assist with minor food preparation tasks, support waste disposal, and help monitor stock levels for inventory purposes. Excellent communication skills and a cooperative attitude are essential, as the role requires close coordination with bar and floor staff. A strong focus on hygiene, efficiency, and discretion is critical, especially during busy service periods. This position is often a stepping stone toward becoming a bartender and offers valuable exposure to the fast-paced hospitality environment in Auckland.
Job Requirement:
Education:
High school certificate preferred; hospitality coursework a plus.
Experience:
Prior bar or restaurant experience preferred but not mandatory.
Skills:
Ability to lift and carry heavy loads.
Basic understanding of bar equipment and glassware.
Good communication and teamwork.
Attention to cleanliness and detail.
Other Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work late nights, weekends, and holidays.
