Job Description:
The Academic Advisor in Mesaieed serves as a key support figure within educational institutions, guiding students through academic planning, course selection, and career development. This role involves one-on-one advising sessions, group workshops, and the creation of individualized academic roadmaps aligned with each student’s goals, abilities, and institutional requirements.
Key responsibilities include assessing students’ academic performance, recommending suitable programs or elective pathways, and monitoring academic progress to ensure on-time graduation. The advisor works closely with faculty, administrative staff, and counseling services to address academic challenges, offer remedial strategies, and support students facing personal or educational barriers.
The Academic Advisor also participates in orientation programs, academic audits, and retention initiatives aimed at enhancing student satisfaction and institutional performance. In Mesaieed, where vocational and technical education is expanding to support Qatar’s industrial sectors, the advisor may also provide career counseling and liaise with local employers for internships and graduate placement opportunities.
This role is critical for fostering a positive learning environment, increasing student engagement, and supporting Qatar’s national education and workforce readiness goals.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s in Academic Advising or Student Affairs is preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years in academic counseling, student services, or higher education advisory roles.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of curriculum structures, graduation requirements, and academic regulations.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse student populations.
Competency in educational software (e.g., SIS, LMS platforms) and data tracking systems.
Counseling and problem-solving skills with a student-centered approach.
Experience organizing workshops, career sessions, and academic events.
Language: Fluency in English; Arabic is highly beneficial for local student engagement.
Other Requirements:
High attention to detail, empathy, and confidentiality in handling student information.
Familiarity with Qatar’s national education strategy and labor market needs.
Willingness to work flexible hours during enrollment or exam periods.
Certification in academic or career advising (e.g., NACADA) is an asset.
