Job Description:
The Category Manager in Al Rayyan is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive revenue growth, optimize assortment, and enhance customer experience. This role involves deep market and product analysis, supplier relationship management, pricing strategy, and performance monitoring to ensure the category meets financial and operational objectives.
Core duties include analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, negotiating with suppliers, and managing category lifecycles—from selection and onboarding to pricing, promotions, and discontinuation. The Category Manager works cross-functionally with procurement, marketing, merchandising, finance, and supply chain teams to create compelling value propositions for customers and increase profitability.
Operating within the dynamic retail and consumer market of Al Rayyan, the role requires strategic thinking, commercial awareness, and an agile approach to responding to evolving consumer preferences. The Category Manager is also accountable for optimizing product mix and stock levels while aligning offerings with brand and business objectives.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or Supply Chain; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CIPS) are preferred.
Experience: 4–6 years in category management, merchandising, or procurement, preferably in retail or FMCG sectors.
Skills:
Strong analytical skills for sales, margin, and trend analysis.
Supplier negotiation and contract management expertise.
Knowledge of inventory planning and demand forecasting.
Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and category management software.
Language: Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
