Job Description:
The API Developer plays a key role in designing, building, and maintaining application programming interfaces (APIs) that enable seamless communication between various software systems in Al Shamal, Qatar. This role involves creating secure, scalable, and efficient APIs to support web, mobile, and enterprise applications. The API Developer collaborates with front-end developers, database engineers, and IT architects to develop and integrate services that ensure data accuracy, performance, and interoperability.
Primary responsibilities include designing RESTful and SOAP APIs, managing version control, ensuring proper documentation, and applying authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and JWT. The role also includes troubleshooting integration issues, maintaining legacy APIs, and optimizing services for speed and reliability. Knowledge of API gateways and cloud-based integration tools is beneficial. The API Developer supports Qatar’s digital infrastructure by ensuring that internal and external systems can connect effectively in real-time environments.
Job Requirement:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in API development or system integration.
Skills:
Proficiency in API design and development using technologies such as Node.js, Python (FastAPI), Java (Spring Boot), or .NET Core.
Strong understanding of REST, SOAP, and GraphQL protocols.
Experience with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI).
Familiarity with API security, rate limiting, and error handling practices.
Knowledge of database integration (SQL/NoSQL).
Hands-on experience with tools like Postman and API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
Language: Proficiency in English for technical communication and collaboration.
Other Requirements:
Strong debugging and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple integrations in dynamic environments.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.
Prior experience in the GCC region or with government digital services is an advantage.
