Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Apiary Breeding Technician to join our apiculture operations in Bukit Batok, Singapore. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the breeding and genetic improvement of honeybee colonies, focusing on raising healthy, productive, and resilient queen bees and colonies.
Key duties include selecting and maintaining breeder colonies, grafting larvae for queen rearing, managing queen cell production, and assisting with controlled mating processes. The Apiary Breeding Technician will monitor colony health, evaluate breeding success, and maintain detailed records of lineage, performance, and health traits.
Additional responsibilities involve managing mating nucs, introducing queens to colonies, and collaborating on selective breeding programs aimed at improving honey production, disease resistance, and colony temperament. Regular tasks also include maintaining apiary equipment, ensuring hive sanitation, and supporting overall hive management.
This role is critical for enhancing honeybee populations, promoting sustainable beekeeping practices, and contributing to the success of Bukit Batok’s apiculture initiatives through scientifically informed breeding efforts.
