Job Description: Food Plant Health Inspector – Zurich (Agriculture & Fisheries Industry)

We are seeking a meticulous and qualified Food Plant Health Inspector to support food safety and public health initiatives in Zurich, within the Agriculture & Fisheries industry. This role involves conducting inspections at food processing plants, agricultural facilities, and distribution centers to ensure compliance with Swiss and EU food safety, hygiene, and plant health regulations.

Key responsibilities include inspecting raw materials and finished products for contamination or non-compliance, monitoring sanitation procedures, evaluating pest control measures, and ensuring proper storage and handling of plant-based food products. The inspector will collect samples for laboratory analysis, document findings, and issue reports with recommendations for corrective actions.

The ideal candidate will have a background in food science, agriculture, biology, or environmental health, along with knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as HACCP, ISO standards, and Swiss food safety laws. Familiarity with plant health regulations and phytosanitary procedures is essential.

Strong attention to detail, objectivity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency in German is mandatory; English or French is an advantage. A valid Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA citizenship is required.

This full-time position offers a critical role in protecting consumer health and upholding quality standards in Zurich’s food and agricultural sectors.
